My Technique/Meine Technik

At the beginning of my work there is always a thought – an image, a memory, a feeling or an association. I capture this initial fragment in some form: on paper, on the computer, or in a photograph. It is the raw state, the trace that carries everything.

Am Anfang meiner Arbeit steht immer ein Gedanke – ein Bild, eine Erinnerung, ein Gefühl oder eine Assoziation. Dieses erste Fragment halte ich in irgendeiner Form fest: auf Papier, am Computer oder in einem Foto. Es ist der Rohzustand, die Spur, die alles trägt.

1. Analogue Reworking / Analoge Überarbeitung

From this fragment I develop the first forms further. I work with classical techniques such as watercolor, etching, drawing or collage. In this step I inscribe my hand, my physical gesture, directly into the work. Every line, every surface remains as a mark of my intervention – deliberately irreplaceable by a machine.

Aus diesem Fragment entwickle ich die ersten Formen weiter. Ich arbeite mit klassischen Techniken wie Aquarell, Radierung, Zeichnung oder Collage. In diesem Schritt schreibt sich meine Hand, meine körperliche Geste, direkt ins Werk ein. Jede Linie, jede Fläche bleibt als Spur meines Eingriffs bestehen – bewusst unersetzbar durch eine Maschine.

2. Digital Transformation & AI / Digitale Transformation & KI

Only afterwards do I transfer the work into the digital sphere. There I also use artificial intelligence as a tool. It generates final structures, overlays and textures that are visible in the finished image like a second skin, but not tangible. This rupture is part of my attitude: my hand meets machine traces.

Erst danach überführe ich die Arbeit in die digitale Sphäre. Dort nutze ich auch künstliche Intelligenz als Werkzeug. Sie erzeugt abschließende Strukturen, Überlagerungen und Texturen, die im fertigen Bild sichtbar sind wie eine zweite Haut, aber nicht fühlbar. Dieser Bruch ist Teil meiner Haltung: meine Hand trifft auf maschinelle Spuren.

3. Digital Finish / Digitales Finish

After the use of AI I digitally refine the work. I decide which lines dominate, which surfaces remain, which traces disappear. For me this process is a final condensation before I materialize the work.

Nach dem Einsatz von KI verfeinere ich das Werk digital. Ich entscheide, welche Linien dominieren, welche Flächen bestehen bleiben und welche Spuren verschwinden. Für mich ist dieser Prozess eine letzte Verdichtung, bevor ich die Arbeit materialisiere.

4. Materialization / Materialisierung

The process concludes with digital printing on Hahnemühle paper. I choose this material because it preserves the depth of my images and gives them an archival, museum quality. Combined with passepartout and framing, the result is not a flat print, but a unique piece of seriousness and weight.

Der Prozess endet mit dem Digitaldruck auf Hahnemühle-Papier. Ich wähle dieses Material, weil es die Tiefe meiner Bilder trägt und ihnen eine archivierbare, museale Qualität verleiht. In Kombination mit Passepartout und Rahmen entsteht so kein flacher Print, sondern ein Unikat von Ernsthaftigkeit und Gewicht.

Conclusion / Fazit

My technique is a multi-stage process: from thought to hand, from hand to machine, from machine back to the material. It thrives on contrasts – on the rupture between organic gesture and technical structure. For me this is not only a method, but the very statement: that art today emerges where control, doubt and resistance collide.

Meine Technik ist ein mehrstufiger Prozess: vom Gedanken zur Hand, von der Hand zur Maschine, von der Maschine zurück ins Materielle. Sie lebt von Gegensätzen – vom Bruch zwischen organischer Geste und technischer Struktur. Für mich ist das nicht nur ein Verfahren, sondern die eigentliche Aussage: dass Kunst heute dort entsteht, wo Kontrolle, Zweifel und Widerstand aufeinandertreffen.

Es ist ein Manifest, ein Fragment aus einer Zone, in der Mensch und Maschine kollidieren.
